What's it like to come to a service at First Wayne Street?
Our Sunday service is rich with spirit, warmth, and vitality, a fusion of contemporary and traditional styles. Each service includes music from our Praise Team and either our Sanctuary Choir (from September to May) or a traditional soloist or instrumentalist (during the summer, when our Sanctuary Choir takes a break). You can expect to hear beautiful music from both our fantastic Yamaha grand piano and our extraordinary Beckerath organ. If you're lucky, you could also hear the handbell choir or one of the children's choirs. Some people get a little dressed up, while others come in jeans. You'll be among folks of all ages, backgrounds, and interests. And you'll be welcomed.
We asked our people to talk about their experience at First Wayne Street.
Here's what some of us had to say:
"It's where I go to praise the Lord, have my soul restored, and get my batteries recharged. It's a calming, healing, uplifting experience that is a vital part of my life and my Christian walk."
"It gives me strength for my week."
"The first word that came to my mind right away was 'fulfilling.'"
"Caring, loving people. Creative, inspiring, uplifting services."
"I love worshipping at FWSUMC. What a great way to praise God. Did you notice how people gathered around in the narthex after the service last Sunday? No one wanted to leave."
"When I'm out of town and unable to attend First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, my week does not seem complete."
"It's a place where I can focus on something bigger than myself, with people that care about me, and that I care about. It's like a second family, full of respect and love for each other."
